Purpose of the role

  • Design, develop and implement new analysers and controllers
  • Manage LTC of existing products
  • Design, develop PCB and software writing

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Developing embedded systems using PIC and arm based chips
  • Ability to meet agreed deadlines · Ability to convert concepts into working prototypes · Maintain, update and enhance existing embedded software written in C
  • Hands on development of new ARM based embedded software for a range of products currently under development
  • Ensure quality of software using appropriate methods (Code Review, Static Analysis, Unit Test etc.) and application of suitable Coding Standards
  • Documentation of software products, development and execution of test plans
  • Maintain, update and add new features to existing software written in C
  • Design up-to-date and intuitive GUIs
  • Work closely with other members of the engineering team to assist with the correct choice of processors and supporting hardware

Key functional competencies and relevant experience

  • C Programming Language
  • Linux OS for Automation
  • Hands on ‘real time’ knowledge with embedded microcontrollers (Arm)
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks/projects and with others to ensure the rapid and coordinated development of new products
  • Flexibility, willingness to learn and, when required, to research new technologies
  • Commercially and financially astute with proven ability to problem solve.
  • Excellent communication skills to ensure understanding across multi-functional disciplines

Desirable

  • Relevant industry experience / project portfolio
  • Experience of Linux Kernel
