The Door & Hardware Federation (DHF) – a trade association focused on raising standards and advancing safety for companies associated with doors and gates – recently inspected Heras’s gates for safety and compliance. We are pleased to say that we received a positive report.
Steve Hill, DHF Senior Training & Compliance Officer, inspected our gates in March and reviewed factors such as our engineer manuals, processes, staff knowledge and job documentation, checking these against standards and legislation like the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008.
He made a number of positive comments, including that our process flowchart “provides an effective passage of information” and that our level of training for both on-site engineers and office-based staff “ensure[s] a suitable level of understanding of the relevant standards and legislation surrounding the industry”.
Recognising our focus on training and development, Steve also said that our staff “demonstrated a good knowledge of what is required”.
We are always striving for improvement, so we will be following up on the only recommendation that Steve made – which was regarding residual risk assessments and their documentation for both new systems and existing systems requiring maintenance or repair. Our staff were fully in agreement with this, and we will be modifying our processes accordingly.
Concluding the summary of his visit, Steve said: “The overriding view is that Heras are keen to embrace the relevant standards and legislation and prioritise safety and compliance.”
We are delighted that our unending focus on safety and compliance, which runs across all of our product ranges and our entire business, has been recognised by the experts at DHF. It will continue to be our utmost priority.
